About the role

Team Leading at Toto

As a team leader you will be the engine of the home. All the day to day aspects of leading the shift and meeting the needs of our children and teams will be led by you. Whilst you will still enjoy making wonderful memories with our children and teams, your role will give you the opportunity to lead in a way that ensures your team deliver excellent care, every day.

You will be responsible for the supervision of staff, shift planning and leading, keywork support and care planning oversight. In addition, you will enjoy the responsibilities of ensuring excellent reporting and recording, management of finances and that the policy and procedures of the home are followed.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will be required to carry out a range of duties within your role. The key responsibilities are detailed below. This is not an exhaustive list but acts as an overall guide. Responsibilities can change and evolve with the needs of the children and the business.

To be familiar with and ensure practise is aligned to the Children’s Home Regulations, Quality Standards, Social Care Common Inspection Framework and all other relevant legislation and guidance.

To ensure that children we support are treated with respect and their privacy and dignity upheld at all times.

To safeguard and promote the welfare of the children we support and ensure that all members of your team do the same.

To model excellent support and to deliver trauma informed care underpinned by PACE principles and knowledge of attachment theory.

Ensure that your staff team provide safe, individualised support, forging strong and positive relationships between the child and their team.

To lead on and create all children’s plans, including risk assessments, to a high quality; ensuring that they are kept up to date, relevant and are robustly implemented and followed.

Be responsible for planning and leading shifts, including managing school routines, appointments, meetings, family time, activities and most importantly, the unexpected.

Oversee and be responsible for all children’s keyworking and case file management undertaken by their keyworkers.

You will develop high quality evidence against all nine Quality Standards for the home and children. You will ensure that this evidence is well presented and up to date at all times.

To uphold a culturally inclusive ethos which actively values and promotes diversity, unity and community cohesion.

Act as a point of contact between the homes team, families, and other professionals to ensure our children get the support they need, acting courteously and professionally at all times.

Ensure that all matters relating to the homes daily and weekly checks and records are to a good standard, including but not exclusive to health and safety, fire safety, medication administration and case file monitoring.

To bring to the attention of a senior colleague any matter for concern over the well-being, safety or safeguarding of a child we support as the concern arises.

To coach, train and mentor Residential Childcare Workers to enable them to deliver excellent care and reporting and recording practise.

Undertake supervision and appraisals as required. Ensure that your team’s welfare and professional development is promoted at all times.

Skills and Experience Required

· Previous experience of working as a Residential Childcare Team Leader or and experienced Residential Childcare Worker with additional responsibilities

· Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (or working towards)

· Good knowledge of CHR 2015 and Guide to the Children’s Home Regulations and Quality Standards

· Good Quality Writing and IT skills

· Sound understanding of Safeguarding and Safer Caring Practices when supporting vulnerable children
